HI guys, just wanting bit of advice, im going to purchase a R4 card for my ds and just wanted to check that the console does not need unlocking or anything like that, just load the games on and away i go?
I would not buy an R4 - the original one is now desperate for software and the general feeling is, not a chance it has died, the team have disbanded and clones of the cart are everywhere with most having poor results. Do yourself a favour and buy something else - on the bright side, no nothing needs to be done to the DS
There are other good ones out there as well, if Sakura ever gets an official release then the M3 will be the best by far. Just avoid R4 M3Simply and other clones. SDHC compatibility is also a bonus!

Martin the classic R4 card only support 2GB. though it's little outdated , many people still buy it. In my opinion, it works ok. If u wanna the flash card which support SDHC or larger, u could buy DSTT or R4-SDHC. All of them are cheap. I bought my R4 on Depot888 $21.99 with discount code 280721, it's now $19.99 Price down. if u buy there, u can try the discount code, maybe it works.
I'd get a nopass, nds dummy card, and ezflash iv. if u flash your ds, you could sell the nopass on eBay and use the nds dummy for sleep mode. of course, you may not want to flash your ds. u can get really cheap stuff on deal extreme. NO POSTAGE!!!! :-)
Why anyone would flash their DS is beyond me. Why take the risk of bricking your DS permanently when a flashcart is a proven method that works reliably.
