Hi, I have a Dell Dimension 9200 and it fails to start. During the normal loading screens, the screen is covered in green dots and then changes to blue dots when it gets to the Windows loading screen and after that just simply blacks out. I formatted thinking it was a virus but still I only got on for 5 minutes then it just blacked out and now have the same problem again.

Im thinking that the graphics card has lost its life? If so i'm not sure what graphics card to upgrade to incase it may not work...

Could anyone give me some advice on what gfx card to get?

My System is:-

Dell Dimension 9200
Intel Dual Core Processor 2.4GHZ
(Dead)Nvidia GeForce 7950GX2
2GBRAM
Windows XP (The problem started when I was on Windows Vista as I have the upgrade disc but after formatting im back on XP)

If theres any other information that you need please feel free to ask :).

Thanks

This problem sounds a little like wrong agp mulitplier or voltage. If the card was fried surely it wouldn't start at all.

Dont think the GFX Card has fully gone yet, because I can get on for 5 mins then it crashes... but I saw another post like this about the green dots and it was his GFX card in the end...also same thing happened to a friend of mine.

I've ordered a 9800GTX so hopefully this will fix the problem :)
Also could I get some advice on what PSU to buy? My friend recommends a 600W one and when I look theres a £18.99 one but another one that costs £59.99. Is there any difference?
