im having trouble with various programs trying to just straight rip normal movie files (avi/xvid i think) from a dvd.

what is the best program with best settings to use? id like fairly good quality something along the lines of any good dvd rip.

You don't give much information.

Rip your DVDs with DVDFab HD Decrypter.
Process with FixVTS.
Convert to AVI with AutoGK.

If it's an .avi file you don't need special ripping software as in DVD compliant files. Open in Windows, browze DVD contents and copy to folder.

so whats the best encoder to use?- i've been doing this for a while yet still, i can't figure out the specs people do for torrent download videos
