I got a virus on my pc that I couldn't get rid of so I reinstalled vista on it.it worked fine for a couple of days then one night I came home from work and it was locked up.it would only load in safe mode so i tried to reinstall vista again, but when it got to the time to restart it still would only start in safe mode, and it said it couldn't finish the install in safe mode.now when I start up it still only loads in safe mode, but now it tells me that windows was not properly installed restart to fix but it will only start in safe mode.is there any way to fix this?I ran the scans from the boot menu and it said every thing is ok,but it still won't load.any help is very appreciated I have been working on this thing for 2 weeks.

Hi bell9440

It looks like you may have to format your hard disk, and then reinstall Vista.

Perhaps we can rule this problem down to a program you installed? Did you install any program before you got the virus/and your computer started booting in safe mode only?

Best Regards :D

Hey bell9440

You should be able to use the vista install disc to format the hard disk and reinstall Vista.

Best Regards :D

yea when you put the cd in and get to the partitioner select the partition that you have your windows copy on and hit "advanced options" then click format. This will ERASE EVERYTHING on your partition (not the others if you use multiple) so you will loose your data but then you can install the OS successfully. Also if u dont use multiple partitions u may want to create another before reinstalling. I keep all my music and important files on another partition so i can safely reinstall my OS often to keep performace up without loosing any thing important. (Incase ur forced to reinstall) BTW this is on Vista if your using something else, it may be slightly different to format.
