I have a Khypermedia KDVRW8X DVD-RW drive that seems to play and burn fine. However, I have experienced incidents of the tray refusing to slide out - just staying put - but the mechanism is visibly trying to open and close it. Often it takes two or three tries on the button before the tray slides open perfectly. I have noticed recently that I will put a disc in the thing, and the door will open and close several times without fail. I take the disc out and try to open and close it without any disc in it - it might open once, then starts the intermittent trouble again. What could be going on here - the belt going bad, something blocking the mechanism, a sensor going haywire?
