Help me Soft Modding my Slim PS2!!!

I got a new slim PS2 SCPH-79004 PAL a week ago. Since it is in warranty period i can't use any mod chip. I have read many articles regarding software modding by using Action Replay Max Evo,uLauncherELF vX.X, Swap Magic etc. My problem is that i can't understand what the heck ELF is and using these softwares.
Basically i wan't to use soft madding tactics so that i can
1) Play DIVX, Avi, Mp3 files on my PS2.
2) Play Downloaded games via USB HDD or Burned DVD's. (I have heard that its easy to play downloaded games from torrent network on USB drives than DVD's or CD's)
3) Use USB Flash Drive (Pen Drive 256mb to 2gb) as my memory card to save my games (i dont have memory card and cant afford to buy one i get 2 Usb drives at cost of 1 memory card of 8mb. lol).

I request you to please show me a simple tutorial that may explain me a Simple downloaded game to be played using my USB HDD or DVD (as you wish) using USB flash drive as memory card without modding my PS2(without chipping) applying soft mod method. I have AR Max Downloaded. Please guide me...
