LGA 775 refers to the cpu socket. all 775 sockets can take any intel socket 775 cpu whether that is single, dual or quad core but it is the board & bios that determines which core will run on it. i have a socket 775 board from a customer that can only run single core cpu's.

both the board & the bios have to be capable of running dual core cpu's & yours cannot be done.

can't use because yours is 90nm & that 1 is 65nm. also the new 1 uses a 800 mhz fsb & yours is around 500 mhz.
