All my music files turned into winwar zip files...

Please bear with me, I'm not tooo computer savvy. I need help..all of my songs that I had downloaded for months, suddenly turned into winwar files. I am unable to extract them. They were mp3 files but now they all are mp3.zip files??! Whenever I try to extract them, they say they are corrupt. I even tried downloading all the songs again, and they were fine for awhile, but when I went to play them a few hours later, they all turned into winwar zip files again. Can you help me, please?? Did I get some kind of virus and can I get rid of it??? Or is this something I can change somehow? Thank you!!

If you right click on one of the mp3 files and choose to open it with WMP - does it play?
