For some reasons, my PC and laptop dates are always in the year 2000, the day, month and time are correct, just the year is wrong!

I've tried to change the year back to 2008, saved and then restart the machine but once it boot up to window desktop, it is year 2000 again.

Both PC and laptop are reasonably new (less than 6months old), so I don't think it is to do with the mother board's battery. I've checked the dates in Bios, and they are correct.

Any suggestion of how to change the dates back to 2008?

Create restore point. Proceed with caution.

This condition has been observed on a wide variety of brands, board designs, and processor types. This problem can be corrected on the vast majority of these computers via the following procedure. Once corrected, the clock will continue to function properly without further operator intervention.

1. 'Hard boot' the computer (via power off/on or RESET).
2. While the computer is performing its power-on self-test, hit the DELETE key to get into the CMOS setup screen.
3. Enter the STANDARD SETTINGS area of the CMOS setup. Check the DATE display. If the year does not display correctly, correct it. On many systems, the CMOS initialization process initiated by examining the date will correct the display without any operator intervention.
4. When the correct date is set, exit the STANDARD SETTINGS area of the CMOS setup. Regardless of whether operator action was necessary to correct the date, select SAVE SETTINGS AND EXIT (rather than EXIT WITHOUT SAVING) to correct the date permanently.
5. Boot the computer normally and retest.

WARNING: DO NOT CHANGE ANY OTHER SETTINGS IN YOUR CMOS!!! If you accidently make a change in some other value, either EXIT WITHOUT SAVING or hit the RESET button and try again. If you are not sure, hit RESET and try again. If you are uncomfortable with this procedure, obtain professional hardware assistance.
