I have 3 PS2s, a. SCPH 30001, b. SCPH 39001, c. SCPH 70001 (slim). Each one is modded with Free McBoot. The mod does work, I know that since I can hear the PS2 attempting to load a game but the game will not load in the systems properly.
System a loads a game backed up on a Maxell DVD-R only
System b loads a game on a Staples DVD+R and Maxell DVD-R
System c loads doesn't load any of the medias.

All games burned with imgburn on a HP DVD840x at 4x

To make it ironic, System b is in the worst condition with soldering throughout the motherboard and the laser being dropped several times. System c is the newest, being a slim. I believe System a is the oldest.

Why don't my games load? What media should I use and what should I use to burn it and at what speed to make sure my games work fine?

Use either Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden with a max speed of 8X. Burn the .isos with ImgBurn at 4X speed.

So right now there is nothing wrong with my PS2, its just the type of media right?
Should I use +R or -R?

Well it might help to clean the laser with a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol.

I personally use +R which all work but I heard that -R is much better.

I'm using an old non-slim PS2. Really the model numbers do not matter. It's just you either have the old PS2 or the new PS2.

Have you ever opened it and done any laser adjustments on it?
My friend has some Verbatim DVD+Rs that I'm gonna borrow to see if I can get NFS-MW to work.

Yes I have adjusted the voltage on my PS2. I can either get DVD9s and regular DVDs to work or just have CDs work. So I just left it on the DVD9/DVD option. When I want to play CD games I just put it on a HDD and load up HDLoader.

Yea, The games that I am trying to use also work fine on my system where I tweaked the laser. How would I get these games to work on the system where I have not tweaked the laser. I don't feel like taking the warranty sticker off and messing with the voltage, I've blown a laser before on my DVD-ROM drive.

So I burned another game at 12x instead of 4x on a Maxell DVD-R and it worked fine on all of my PS2s. It seems like the PS2 doesn't like games burned at lower speeds.
