It was just a simple ide hdd addition. After installing I could not get the computer to switch on. Everything was ok as far as power the connection P3 P9 and the switch all seem secure. What did I do? This couldn't have come at a worst time.

check if your new HDD's pins... if it is s desktop addition.. make sure that the pin is set on slave, if it not the main HDD. you can't have two HDD with the master setting.. I hope this solved the problem.. ( by the way the pin setting should be drawn on back of the hdd and the pin is located next to the power plug in and IDE plug in..)Another thing check you ram.. sometimes if ram is not installed right the computer won't start.. LET ME KNOW IF IT WORKED.. IF not than we can try other things..

make certain that the data cable is not in reverse as in pin 1 to pin 1 instead of pin 40.

No such luck everything seems to be in its proper place. The jumper setting seems to be ok. Now the lead to the additional hdd is not on the hard drive would it have to be?

This might sound stupid but did you try to turn the computer on without the additional HDD?? just try it with the original HDD.. another thing i notice is that many times computer companies make the hdd that is installed in your original computer HDD as slave.. so they can install many hdd at once.. look at your original HDD to see it is in master position..

Naw I ended putting the additional back into its original unit. I tried to start it with the orginal set up and it still wouldn't come on. I even tried it without hooking any of the hard drives up still no luck. Its a compaq evo d510c.
