Hi-
I am having some trouble getting my computer back to where it was before it was infected with this virus. So far I have used AdWare2008 to scan my computer, it found 28 infected files, I then ran the Malwarebytes, and found and additional 3 infected files. After that I ran a free virus scan offered by MSN, which found another 2 infected files, one which was deleted, and one that wasn't able to be deleted. I then ran a scan with McAfee virus scan, which picked up the last remaining infection, but still was not able to delete it, but was able to quarantine the little bugger. So now my computer seems to be running smooth so far. BUT..the problem I am still having is my background desktop, all my monitor controls are inaccessable. Whenever I start an app. or log onto the net, all the pictures and icons are missing. If I could get past that, I "think" everything will be fine. Oh yeah, and I still can't do a system restore either.
If anyone has any suggestions to help me out, I will greatly appreciate it!!!!!
Here is the log of my results using HiJackthis....if it helps.
Thanks again!!

Whoever said you were clean?
Your HijackThis log still shows at least one piece of malware affecting your internet...
However, before I proceed, please give more details, as I didn't quite get you. What do you mean by not being able to access your deskop background? And when you run an app, all the pictures are missing? What pictures?
Best Regards :D

Thanks for your response.I will try to be more specific. If I right click on the desktop, and click on properties, I only get a tab for the screensaver. The tabs for the Theme,Desktop,Appearance, and settings are nonexistant. The same thing if I access the display settings through the control panel.
As for the pictures, any pictures shown on the web show up as a small icon with colored dots in it, "No image available", Same thing with my McAfee (for example), where all the buttons are supposed to be, there are the same icon. So in other words, there are no images.
Please let me know if you need more info, or better clarification.
And thanks again.

I will also add, that when the virus took over, my desktop background just went black. So now my screen has only a black background with the desktop icons. And I can't change anything. I haven't found anything else, at this point, that I have noticed. I will dig into it more later today when I get home.
Thanks again for any help you can offer.

Hey 08071511
Please reboot your computer into Safe Mode With Networing by doing the following:
? Restart your computer
? After pressing the power button, repeatedly tap the F8 key.
? Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
? Select the option to run Windows in Safe Mode With Networking, then press Enter.
? Choose the administrator's account.
Now, please download ComboFix.
With ComboFix, at the download window, please rename it to Combo-Fix(.exe) before downloading it.
Please disable all security programs, such as antiviruses, antispywares, and firewalls.
Also disable your internet connection.
? Run Combo-Fix.exe and follow the prompts.
**Understand that things like your system clock changing and your desktop disappearing might happen. Do not worry, because all will be restored later.
? Wait for the scan to be completed.
? If it requires a reboot, please do it.
? After the scan has completed entirely, please post the log here. The log will be located at C:\ComboFix(.txt)
Do not click on the ComoboFix window, as it may cause it to stall.
Best Regards :D

Well I installed the combo-fix.exe, and as soon as I clicked on it, everything froze up and shutdown. So I tried to reboot, about 5-10 seconds into it, the screen turned blue and gave me a "Fatal Error" message. Windows would no longer boot up, in safe mode or otherwise. I went ahead and performed a PC restore, but of course I lost everything in the process.
Thank you for trying to help. I appreciate your time.
Another Hard lesson learned for me though.

Oh no... I'm sorry. The malware must've messed up your system so badly that when ComboFix tried to remove it, it caused a fatal system error.
Good luck with your new system...
Best Wishes :D
