Can't Access WD Caviar SE

Hey everyone,

Ive tried so many things to try to access data from this external hard drive but i simply cant get access to it. The drive is a Western Digital 320GB Caviar SE External which my friend owns and removed from the case. i have tried to attach it internally to no avail. It shows up in the BIOS as an unknown drive. The drive also shows up in disk managment as "Unknown" and "Not Initialized" and when i try to initialize the disk it comes up with an error: "incorrect funtcion" so i have no idea. I tried Data Partition Recovery software and didnt work. The drive shows up in both device manager and computer management>>disk management however does not show up in My computer. It connects to the computer via USB and has a separate power supply. The driver installed correctly as i can click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray.

Any possible help would be appreciated. Thanks!
