Hi All. I have a fat PS2 which I had a modchip put in around 6 years ago. Now it is only playing a small handful of my backups - the majority do not work at all. The PS2 will play original games however. What can I do to get this working again? Does the laser need cleaning? If so, how - I'm not fantastic with electrical stuff. Do I need a new modchip?

Check out "cleaning the laser" in this guide
http://www.exploitstation.com/index.php?page=ps2repair

Try that first and see if they work.

You won't know if you need a new modchip until you first try the cleaning.
