Hi, guys! I got XP Pro SP1 installed but am experiencing alow internet speed. Someone suggested that I install SP2 or SP3. I'm not interested in the security protection that SP2 and SP3 bring. All I want is to increase my net speed. So, which will do that, if any? Will SP2 or SP3 boost my net speed?

Absolutely, positively, NOT. Your "net speed" is determined by your ISP not your PC. Routine PC maintainace such as defragging and using CCleaner to clean up the garbage might help. And don't forget a good spyware and virus scan.

Hey taurusxx5
You can try Advanced Windowscare Personal with its System Optimization feature that can optimize your system for the best internet speed.
Best Regards :D

hi, cdavfrew. I really wouldn't want to download a program to do that. Such programs invite wares, which I don't want to risk on my system. I'd rather tweak my system manually. But thanks anyway.

Hi,
You may want to look into something like cfos speed it's a traffic flow program I've been using awhile now. Doesn't speed up your internet but it does help with the priorty flow of things going in or out. Might be helpful.
