Hardware for playing back HD mk4 files?

I'm playing high quality bluray mk4 movie files on an P4 3G with around 2 gigs of ram on XP. It does the job and the picture looks awesome, but when the action gets heated and there's a lot of movement going on the video get a tad choppy. I'm going to be building a new system to take the place of this one and have been out of the hardware loop for a year or two. I'd like to stay away from the latest and greatest and gear more towards best bang for the buck.

Would appreciate some hardware recommendations like CPU, HD, video/sound card.
