Hi, I have a Starview 2 PVR which has developed some faults, one of which is my computer cannot 'see' the box.
My question is, can the hard drive be removed, plugged into my computer (as a slave) and have the latest software 'drag and dropped' into the relevant folder on the HD?
Also, does anybody know which folder this will be?
(It does actually already have the latest software, but I was wondering if it is corrupt and needs reloading)

Hi
On your first question has your S/V ever been recognised by your current PC either to do an upgrade/transfer by Null Modem or USB? or is it a problem just started?
To your second question I don't know as I have never done it this way (only by USB transfer) but try by all means (have you tried USB Transfer)?. If you manage to get updated F/W onto your HD that way it will be the same as doing it via the USB transfer method. From memory the file has to be dropped into a folder named 'Firmware' on the HD. You will then (if it works) be able to upgrade the F/W from your menu system.

Thanks jbvid.
Can't believe it, I took the hd out and took off the jumper cap (which was I thought on neutral pins), turned on the box and eureka!
the box saw the hd with all the recordings on it. It was working OK for 4 months before this!!!???
The EPG still doesn't work, but I'm hopeful that re installing the software over the weekend might sort this out.
Thanks again for all the replies, they were much appreciated.
