I recently bought Magnavox DVD-R, and my Wii doesn't like most of them.
It shown a lots of error messages after I put in the Wii console.
Anybody recommend any brand or make of DVD for Wii iso?
Thanks,

For me it has to be Verbatim - that appears to be what the 'real' are based upon, another pointer do not try and write at anything faster than 4X's

One thing to realize is that DVD media is made by only a handful of companies. CMC most likely made your Memorex discs, and they are one of the cheapest and worst companies to purchase from. (They also make others such as Maxell, Dynex, etc.)
In order to find out who manufacturers the brand of discs you own, you can use a freeware program called DVD Identifier to scan the disc and tell you what kind it is. I also believe there is a forum on the web where users rate these discs for compatibility.
Personally, I use Verbatim and TDK discs. DVD-R and DVD+R have both worked for me. Had terrible luck with Dynex -R (CMC) and some +R were bad burns (RiData I believe.) ALWAYS burn at 4x, as the slower burn will help your laser read the disc. Best of luck!

Verbatim DVD-Rs are the best, seriously.
I have burnt ALL my 100+ Wii backups on them using IMGBurn at 4x speed, and 99% of the games are working perfectly^^

Taiyo Yuden Premium (not value-line) have worked perfect for me. I can get a 200 pack for $60 free shipping normal price. Sometimes when they are on sale I can get them for $50 free shipping. I buy at supermediastore.com
Verbatim cost $70 for a 200 pack. So Tayio Yudens is the way for me.

Sorry to rain on your parade but I have had two cheap memorex discs work just fine. The first one was the wrong region for the game but it still worked. The other one works perfectly.

Cheaper media like memorsux will be more inconsistant with the quality of disc. Meaning some might work perfectly fine but others might not. It is really hit an miss.
Also cheaper media they will degrade quicker then better media like Verbs or Tayio Yuden.
So Verbs Tayio Yudens are better for short and long term.

I didnt think the Nexxtech DVD-Rs were good to put the wii games on.
Also I just read that someone is using the Verbatim DVD +R, I thought only the -R are good to use.
Anyone try puting them on the Staples brand DVD-R or DVD+R?

.-. I've got 2 packs of 50 Staples brand DVD-Rs and haven't gotten a single coaster. My Wii doesn't seem to load them slower than a normal disc, and I -always- burn 1x speed. I feel as if a higher speed would make for inconsistent loadtimes and glitches...
Well anyway, I've had some of the games for weeks, haven't kept them in any cases (infact, I just stack them atop eachother) and they all still work. So hah? I guess...

Sorry for double posting but I saw Taiyo Yuden's going for 10 bucks, SINGLE DISC. I don't care how high the quality is, if I managed 50 discs at 30 cents a disc, and they've worked for weeks, theres no way I'm importing those Taiyo's from Japan for 20 bucks. Sorry to rant, but also for a lot of us the wait factor just doesn't seem to be an option. As for all the doubters, go out, buy 10 staples DVD-Rs, burn at 1x speed, and see how you like them. Over here in MA there good..

Ritek DVD-R (RITEKG05) work perfect for me 40+ disks all burnt at x4 with ImgBurn and no coasters :-)
Check out the "Disk ID" in ImgBurn to find out the manufacturer's code.

I have to say from my experience i have used TDK DVD-R at either 1x or 2x and they work great, i have also used some cheap brand DVD-RW to test games before permanently burning to DVD-R and they work great too. It all depends on if you have a modchip and what kind of modchip you have as i have the D2SUN V3 modchip that will just about read any DVD-R :)
Oh and ZeroDefex DVD-R seem to work great in my wii too :P

Cheap media will cost you $ in the end. Even of they do work now they will break sown faster in the long run. So you will find yourself making another copy of the same game more often which in time will cost as much or more in the long run.
But in the end it is your choice.

Agreed larrylje,
I just got my Drive key and spend around $70 on various discs, 5 trips, and hours of frustration before I picked up some premium Taiyo Yuden discs, it wouldn't even begin to read any of the Sony, Memorex, Fuji, Imation or HP dics I threw at it. Every single TY disc I've used has been awsome!

I have been at this for a looooooong time now and it boils down to a few different factors
1) What burner you are using
2) What kind of a setup you PC is
3) What programs you use to read/burn
4) What media your devices like
5) Small bit of preference
I use 1 line of product (currently) for all my stuff (Xbox, PS2, Wii, Movies, etc) and that's Prodisc. I have had some issues with Taiyos (I know weird huh?) and have found that Prodisc worked for me in all of whatever I threw them in (outside of Verbatims for my 360)...but then again this is coming from someone who STRICTLY used Princo (imagine that!) for very many years without a problem....basically what I am saying is you have to find what works for you with different variables because even the "best" product (example Taiyos) might not work for everyone under their setup/devices.

If you bought the Taiyo Yuden Value-line disc then you can have problems. But if you buy the premium silver thermal you shouldn't have an issue.
So you should also be looking at what type of lines of media each brand has.
