I havent been here in a while because, well, I been doin alright on my own, but Im back cause this place never ceases to have the best knowledge base and the best users...
so, on that note...
IS it possible to get my tvix 6500 to stream directly from my windows PC?
mpcclub.com isnt being very helpful at all, as well as avs forums...
also, another question I have is how do I play BDMV files on the tvix so that they act like regular dvds (with menus, chapter forward/back, subs, etc)
is BDMV the preferred format to use on the 6500 or is there a better or easier method?
thanks a lot in advance for any and all help!
Scott

hey skawalker, glad to meet you. Get yourself a profile, and I will add you to by "buddy" list. I am an avid Tvix user. Nice to have someone to share ideas with.
My setup:
Windows XP Pro x32 with 4tb of storage setup as a server. I have 4 tvix boxes (living room and three bedrooms) that I stream to. I have my PC in the computer room hooked up to transfer all encoded movies to the server.

If you have any questions, I would be more than happy to help.
(I have been trying to get Afterdawn to create a "Streaming" section. So the more users they have, maybe it will happen some day)

l,m desperate and hoping you can help me
l bought the TVIX6500A off Digital Connection USA on the 6/30/2008 .
l took the harddrive out and connected the 6500A straight to my computer via Lan.
Found Samba worked very well and was pleased the way the whole thing worked.
Then a couple of days ago,l switched it on everything went as it should until l wanted to watch a movie,up popped a message saying "Unable To Connect To Disk"
Since then
When l ping l get fail
l have changed the Cat 5 cables
Retyped the IP Address
Tried going thru NFS (l have Netshare)
Tried DHCP
Tried Static
Connected straight to computer instead of the Hub
Even tried connecting to my other computer
All failed
Does anybody have any ideas
Cheers Ellathai

what version of firmware are you using?
Did you do anything right before your Tvix stopped working on the lan? like update the firmware?
In your network setting on the Tvix, are you using DHCP or did you manually setup the IP and MAC address?

To let you know, I bought mine the same place you bought yours, and they will take care of you if your box is bad. But before you send it back to them, try installing a hard drive or using a usb drive and copy the firmware over to it, and update from there. If you are having networking problems, I would not try to update from the network.
Once you update the fw, there are a few more things you can try. One is make sure your share is named "tvixhd1" and use the NFS server software off the Tvix website. Connect the tvix to your network via your router, don't connect directly to your PC (unless you are using a patch cable), and in your network setting on the Tvix, use DHCP, and select NSF and not Samba. Last thing, put in your server IP address. Once you do this, it should work (your ping should be 5 out of 5), if it doesn't let me know.
If you can get it working with the above setup, I would recommend upgrading your NFS software to allegroNFS.

That seems to function better (no skipping or jumping) when streaming DVD ISO's plus more shares.
*Edit*
Here is the NETShare manual:
http://www.tvix.co.kr/eng/support/Manual.aspx?act=RD&id=38
It is very helpful in setting up the tvix over the network.

ok. Good.
I had the same thing happen to me, and it was windows firewall doing it. Just for testing, turn off your firewall on your PC, and see if you can read your shared folder.
