This poped up on me out of the blue. It strikes me as odd, first time Ive seen this. At first it prevented me from opening S&D and HJT but a simple name change fixed that. Keep getting popups from the quickbar that has microsofts icon, saying that Im infected with spyware please click to download our security update. Which proceeds to try and download from XP Protection Center. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ran MWB here's the log. I think I got it all, but please, if you think I may have missed something let me know. So far all symptoms of the antivrius 2009 (as I think it's called) have ceased. No more popups or internet redirects. And system stability has returned.

Hi Arhat

1.
Now, please download ComboFix.
With ComboFix, at the download window, please rename it to Combo-Fix(.exe) before downloading it. Save it to your Desktop.

Please disable all security programs, such as antiviruses, antispywares, and firewalls.

? Run Combo-Fix.exe and follow the prompts.
? Accept the End-User License Agreement.
? Allow the Recovery Console to be installed.
? When you see the window below, click on Yes.

? When the Recovery Console has been installed, click on Yes to start the scan.

**Understand that things like your system clock changing and your desktop disappearing might happen. Do not worry, because all will be restored later.
? Wait for the scan to be fully completed.
? If it requires a reboot, please do so.
? After the scan has completed entirely, please post the log here. The log will be located at C:\ComboFix(.txt)

Do not click on the ComoboFix window, as it may cause it to stall.

2.
Follow these instructions for an updated HijackThis:

Please download the HijackThis zip file. Save it onto a convenient place in your computer, and then unzip the file.

Rename HijackThis(.exe) to scanner(.exe).

Next, run scanner(.exe). A window will pop up.

? Click on the button which says Main Menu, then Do a system scan and save a logfile.
? Please wait for the scan to be completed.
? After the scan has completed, a text window will pop up. Please post the contents of this window here.

This will also be located at hijackthis(.txt) in the same folder that HijackThis was originally saved.

NOTE:: Do not fix anything using HijackThis, as this may also damage legitimate components of your computer.

Things I'll need in your next post:
1. ComboFix log
2. HijackThis log

Best Regards :D

Life is but a dream; you dont feel any pain unless you want to or you fall off the bed.
Success is relative; the more success the more relatives.
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kickboxing.
To be or not to be; thats a dumb question.

Hey Arhat

Please zip this folder: C:\Qoobox and upload it to http://www.uploadmalware.com/ .

Other than that, you look clean! Enjoy!

Hey Arhat

You uploaded all the files detected by ComboFix to antivirus vendors, so that your antivirus products will give everyone better protection against such malware.

Im back, sorry to drudge up an old thread but I wasn't sure wether to create a new on or not, since it's still the same ongoing problem. Everything worked clean and fine after your help cdavfrew, but after shutting my system down and starting it up again the next day it was in a much worse shape. It began locking down all my programs despite what they were, more specifically when I double click the icons would become faded and unresponsive. It cleared the start window, it displayed nothing, and wouldn't display the all programs sheaf of the menu. I've only just now regained some stability. And even now my internet browser crashes or shuts down unexpectedly, and when it does function properly Im still getting the same popups from RON ads by ads4u and windows antivirus 2009. As well as other search hooks. I'm including here fresh scan logs, though if you would prefer me to make a new thread just give the word. Again I appreciate the help.
