I have been trying to back up my original DVD's using Verbatim DVD+R DL discs but am getting a write error using these 3 programs interchangeably. This just started happening recently so it is leaving me puzzled. Before this I always used Memorex DVD+R DL's so i thought maybe the better quality of verbatims would work...but nope...one interesting thing i noticed after copying onto a verbatim disc was that it failed at about 49% but when i looked on the disc i could see by the different shade of color that it burned the whole disc instead of just 49%. Did I kill my laser with bad quality discs?? Any help would be much appreciated!

Try posting a burn log from ImgBurn or DVD Decrypter for us to take a look at.

wow...i feel like one of those kids in the scary movies that yells that his doll is coming alive but when everyone comes to look...the doll is just sitting there...

Anyways...it worked finally...Verbatim seems to load faster and creates a smoother process...I ripped using DVDfab Decrypter and copied the files (not the iso) using Imgburn...worked like a charm...thanks for taking my thread into consideration =]

49% of a DL disc is the "whole disc, one layer." That's why it looked as though the whole disc were burned when it was one entire layer up to the layer break. That assumes that you are recording to full capacity on the disc because each layer must be exactly the same size in terms of recorded capacity. (Recording only half a DL disc will show show a burned section about two-thirds of the way through the bottom of the disc's layer 0 and then two-thirds back to the hub area on layer 1. Why 2/3 instead of half? Area = pi times radius squared. The last "third" is equal to half the disc area.)
