i'm planning on buying a 40-42 inch tv in the next few months. i have my eye on the samsung1080p lcd 40 inch. however, i've been looking in curries, amazon, argos and i'm getting confused first of all what brand to get, what model (as there are so many different models, for example i've seen loads of different samsungs that look similar, have similar properties, however have a different product code and vary in price). What is the best thing? does price make a huge difference? i do want an attractive looking tv, which is why i've indicated the samsung. also i have a xbox360 and plan on getting a ps3. is 1080 applicable to ps3 and 720 to xbox360? back to the tv, I've heard and seen (from my parents and brother) that the picture on hd tvs showing non hd channels are kinda crap. is it true that old school tvs show better picture than hd tvs for non hd channels? or does this depend on the reception that you get. also there are not many hd channels out there therefore is it worth even getting an hd tv in the next year? i also have a dbox which allows me to view every channel, i'm not sure if this shows hd channels, if not will there be something similar in the next year that can show hd channels? can someone please help me out?
yeah old cable boxs on new tv look like crap, its a source delivered in a lower resolution aka smaller screens lol , 480p stretched out looks awful, you should run an HD cable box on it:D
samsung is a good brand....Hitachi too....sony even
ps3 @ 1080p i believe so, 360? make sure it has HDMI for higher quality, but even on the old arcade 360 through component cables you could get 1080i/1080p although its debated if its "real 1080p" as most of pregames only play at 720p and then the graphics system is disputed as well...
