So heres my situation, i recently purchased a 19" samsung LCD television with a digital tuner. I started by hooking it up to an antenna to see what HD channels i could get over air and there were a few but not enough. Next i hooked up my tv to a standard cable output expecting to just get the usual 50 or so channels, however after doing a channel scan it found about 600 channels, most of which were DTV. now a lot were scrambled but im still getting about 50-75 digital channels. Firstly i was wondering if this was normal, and second, a few of the HD channels like CBS, NBC and Fox are coming in but with no sound. i was wondering if there are any tricks to get the sound to come through, or if it is being scrambled and theres no hope of getting audio.
Hey yourself!
I live in the Rochester NY area and the same thing happened to me. I bought a 19" Poloroid HDTV and hook my raw CATV cable to it and lo and behold! After doing a channel scan, up poprd channels like 5-12 and 80.3 and 127-15 etc etc. Local channels like our PBS affiliate has 4 "sub" channels, the NBC, ABC, CBS and FOX channels all have HDTV channels running in 720p or 1080p formats. I believe they are in "transition" until things get settled in Feb at cut-over time. I the meantime we get HDTV which is very nice indeed EXCEPT there seems to be a lot of (I'll call it) fuzzy breaks. Like the picture stalls and then catches up with itself. Most distracting! Any comments?
