Iam hoping to get a DS Lite and a R4 card tomorrow or Sunday, I would like to know if the DS will need anykind of software or hardware mod in order to work with the R4? I heard stuff about a chip for the DS similar to the chip for the PS2, and I heard all you do is stick the R4 card in and thats it. Can someone confirm?

Yes iam already aware of the ways to determine a "fake" R4 card.

You don't need to do anything to the DS. You just need a flash cart and a microSD card. That's it.
