as some dowloaded avi or similar movie files are coming with embedded
subtitles...I would like to cancel or to make them unvisible ...

I heard, that with some programs ,as virtualdub or similar,
this is possible...

Question: is that correct ,are there really such special programs
available or any way usable to hide such embedded
subtitles...

Thanks for the help ..

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Those embedded subtitles are made part of the movie. There's no way to see the picture "behind" the subtitles anymore, because those subtitles ARE the picture.

kajnrig is right.
It all depends on the video and the way the subtitles are positioned. If they are at the bottom on the black bar, then yes, easy to do, you can just remove/crop the black bars.
If you don't have the black border, or the subs are above it, all you can do is "blur" the subs, try to mask them. You'd probably be better off finding a different video source.

There are Logo Removal -tools to do that, but you don't like the outcome... Its better to leave the text into the video.

(or get a new version of the movie without hardsubs)
