Hello Seamus,
As you may know each computer may require different types of RAM and different computers can hold more RAM than others.
Go to the following website
http://www.crucial.com/
When there do the system scan that is on the main page, this will then tell you exactly how much RAM your computer can hold and what type you need.
I am not saying you need to buy the RAM from this website. I would recommend you shop around once you know exactly what type of RAM you need.
Good Luck, if you have any further questions please let me know.
Cheers,
S~

2 Gig is the max for most computers. You can get computers now a days that go up to 8GB but as you can imagine they are rather expensive.
You can either buy a new computer or new motherboard, But its rather complicated to go down that route.
I recentley used the low RAM explination to the misses to spend money on a new computer. Got one now with 4GB RAM with the option to goto 8GB.
Least if you buy a new one with decent specs you know it will last you quite a few years!

Can I also reccomend using Ccleaner to get your PC speed up a bit. It deletes all unused and hidden files in your computer that are not needed(like internet cookies and so on). It also has a good registry Fix tool, and some other useful apps.
