ATSC/NTSC Tuner

Hi, I just bought a new Lcd tv with a built in ATSC/NTSC tuner. ?
I am a dish Network subscriber and the new tv is for a new room. I'm not a tech savvy person and dont;know anything about digital tuners etc etc.
Someone told me that since this tv has a built in digital tuner, i don't need to get a new reciever or connection for this tv from dish network. All i need to do is plug in the tv and it will scan for all the channels itself.
I was wondering how is that possible? do i need a regular antenna if not a satellite reciever?
am i going to get dish network channels without the reciever?
if that is possible, should i unsubscibe the dishnetwork and save some money?

The ATSC tuner is used to receive over the air broadcasts form an antenna.
The tuner will scan for available digital signals from stations in your area..
It doesn't replace cable.

If you want the satellite channels on the new TV you will need another box from your satellite provider, unless your primary box has two channels. I had Dish for a very short while, and we had one box, running two TV's each with their own remote, and we could watch a different channel on each TV. We had HD on the primary TV, and SD on the other. There were no extra charge for this (unless it was hidden in the package price).
The NTSC (analog receiver), and ATSC (digital receiver) are only for OTA signals transmitted by the local TV stations.
