A game? Is it in mpeg2 format? If so its a movie...you need to convert it to VOB/IFO/BUP format if it isnt already in it, use TMPGEnc DVD Author, and then use a program like DVD Shrink or DVD2One to compress it.
thanks, yeah, i want to transfer a sony giga pocket recording of the super bowl to dvd. i have tried your method with no success, i'll give it another try.
the first time i tried to re encode an 8 gig ballgame i got a message that said i was low on disc space and my 90gig drive was to fragmented to even use defrag on it. seems it had spread fragments of the video all over the place. the next time it seemed to be working and said it was finished but when i double checked it it had stopped after 50 minutes of the program. and at that point it had corrupted my original file and it was useless.
Hi the mpeg2 is 8GB in size and thats 4 hours? Can you split the movie in two, into 4GB segments, create images and burn them as ISO's to a disc using DVD Decrypter or Nero?
I actually have a Giga Pocket capture of the Super Bowl on my computer that I just burned to DVD today. I actually use more complicated and expensive methods to author, but I tried authoring with DVD Author just to make sure it would work (no reason it shouldn't since Giga Pocket files are DVD compliant) and I didn't have any problems. I'm guessing you captured in SP mode if the file is only 8GB. I only capture in HQ mode, so I suppose that could make a difference, but I know the SP files are still compliant so it shouldn't.
If you can you should follow Oriphus' original suggestion to author and then compress. Giga Pocket uses a higher bitrate than it really needs to for encoding so you should be able to compress quite a bit with little quality loss. I re-encode mine with CCE before authoring and I consistently end up with half the average bitrate of the original and can't tell any difference. Obviously I wouldn't expect quite the same results from a one click program, but it should be very compressable.
