Hi there,
I recently purchased an Edge card for a nintendo ds. I have not had the chance to use it yet as my sd card still hasn't arrived.
I was wondering though how this thing actually works. I mean, I'm guessing that the sd adapter must have some kind of program or something on it, surely? If that's not the case, then you'd be able to download a cheap sd adapter and just run the edge software direct from the sd card - there would be no point in purchasing the edge card itself.
So what I'm asking is - is it possible to copy the edge card itself, so that I can simply purchase a cheap adapter and sd card, and then have a perfect 'edge' copy made?
I hope someone here can help. Thanks

I'm going to help you help yourself.
Re-read your question very, very slowly.
Then ask yourself if what you're asking even makes any sense.

The question makes perfect sense.
I'm new to this and so I'm not sure of the exact terminology that should be used. However, I don't see why you should struggle to understand my question.
I guess I'm asking two seperate questions: Does the 'edge' or whatever card you use exist solely on the SD card you put into the card that fits into the ds?
If that is the case, then I dont understand why you can't just buy the kind of card that fits into the ds (I don't know what their technical name is), download the firmware for an edge card from their website, and just run it. Surely if the sd card contained everything, there would be no need to purchase the edge card itself?
So I'm guessing that the card that fits into the ds itself, WHATEVER the technical name for this kind of card is, must have something on it that is important and necessary to play copied ds games.
My question therefore (and it was perfectly valid the first time around) is - IS IT POSSIBLE TO COPY WHATEVER IS ON THOSE CARDS?
I'm asking this because if possible, now that I have purchased an edge card, I would like to copy this card itself, so that I can have multiple edge cards without having to buy another one.
Someone out there must understand what I'm asking.
For anyone who helps me, thank you in advance :)

Your name is very accurate, because thats the sound I want to make when I read your question: aaarrrggh! And possibility a few 4 letter expletives as well.

The reason you dont know the name of the type of card that the DS uses is because it has no name. Its a propitiatory format exclusive to, and owned by, nintendo. You cant go out and buy one except those that already contain a DS game or the flash-based versions produced (semi-illegally) by hacking teams.
Official nintendo games contain up to 128mb of non-writable memory as well as 512kb of rewritable memory (for the save games). So you cant even try to copy games over to them either, its simply not possible.
I hope now you understand why your question makes no sense.

Right, yeah.
That makes sense to me now.
I had previously thought that the ds cartridges were the same as those used in other things, and therefore it might be possible to copy the edge card itself.
That makes sense now.
Thanks for clearing that up!

you're an idiot, if you had even tried booting your 'edge' card without your MICROsd then you would know that the 'edge' card has the bootloader on it, this is the firmware that allows you to boot the card,
here is picture of nintindo ds, just because you suck

Man. What an utter *bleep* you are.
Firstly - I DON'T EVEN OWN A NINTENDO DS.
*bleep*. I come in to ask a perfectly reasonable question, and I get two aggressive responses from virgins hiding behind their computers.
I bought the edge card as a present for a 5 year old boy that owns a nintendo ds. It arrived this morning and I've not had a chance to even put it into a ds to play with yet. I asked a perfectly reasonable question, and and two complete and utter tards come and respond like this.
It's not stupid to ask a question if you do not know the answer. You should try showing some respect rather than flying off the handle. It's not me who is the 'idiot'.
