sata hard disk removing and add to single rack

I purchased a single drive rack for a Sata drive that fits in my 5" expansion slot.

I had had numerous problems with USB corrupting data by removing when the systems hangs etc.

My question is:

Is the Sata more reliable?

Is there any action like you take for a USB to "stop it and remove it"?
