OK, here's my setup.

I've got my media center PC feeding my 5.1 surround over coax spdif. I've got a DVI to HDMI cable running from the PC to my TV.

The graphics card in my PC allows you to feed coax SPDIF into it to be sent down the HDMI to the TV. I've tried it and it works well.

Now, what I would like to do is split the coax spdif and feed my graphics card AND my 5.1 system at the same time so I can either have the sound coming out of my TV or the 5.1.

I've tried it with a simple splitter and it doesn't like it, get the occaisionaly pop and crackle from the TV but nothing more.

Any ideas? I've seen hdmi switches with digital outputs but I'd rather not spend £50 on something that I hope can be done for considerably less!
