Hi,
Another area of concern is possibly your new mother board is malfunctioning. The greensman here( a fine gentleman and quite the pc expert) talked of a similar problem. Seems like his "mobo" went bad, and he could not burn either. So perhaps a call to tech support at Asus might be in order.
Merry Christmas,
Jo

Ive read that newer drives arnt supported by older softwares. Infact, I may have (well... my Bro) experienced that recently. Roxio 6 and a DRU830 was a definite no go. If im mistaken, I apologize. But... I read it, so it must be right ;) lol
I suppose if it worked on a different mobo though...

To delete, or not to delete. THAT is the question!

Really? I constantly have 2 running. I used to have 4 running. EXTREMELY good burns too. Ive had several hof's. :D I suppose it depends on both the burning program as well as the virtual drive program :D

To delete, or not to delete. THAT is the question!

Also look for updated drivers for your motherboard chipset V.I.A
Bus Type : via Inquiry data (1) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI
If after updating the chipset drivers doesn?t cure the problem uninstall the via drivers and use the windows base drivers

Hi guys, thanks for posting...i was feeling a bit lonely there.Well for some strange reason i managed to burn a few discs, but am getting a horrific rate of 'media error' results when i use img burn, shrink/nero and CloneDVD.The discs just semm to have btween 2 and 3 mill burnt and are then spat out.Im getting 75% fails on my TY GO2 8x discs that in the last 1200 or so have had 2 or 3 fails. The coding on them is gg000103, and I have 200 of the buggers...they were bought with a few other stacks that caused no probs. They burn fine on my two laptops. My PC is now recognising the ide burner, and I have uninstalled the marvell virtual device, and updated my via chipset drivers, although i was pretty sure I had done that.Ill get back after trying this .Thanks again. All started with this new board.Shame my p5q had a stupid onboard rest button that jammed.

Use the windows drivers not the V.I.A I've had trouble in the past with via drivers make sure you completely remove them as well think I used a program called drive cleaner to make sure they was completely removed

Hi Creaky, long time no hear...hope things are better with you than me!!.This is driving me mental! The discs burn ok with my laptops but not my stand alone....my lovely benq is a bit suspect i guess cos it is regularly not recognised by windows.I cant burn the discs on any of my burners without a anow 75% fail rate.I must admit that I was not that impressed ith the new mobo but ill carry on till i find out whats wrong.I think ill take the benq (ide) out of the loop so i have no ide channels connected and see if that makes a differance.Hurts like hell to see a ty fail!.
@killalot..where would i find the via drivers please ( idont want to remove the wrong ones!!)
thanks guys

Merry Christmas to all!.
pieman - i've just got home and compared your logfile to one of mine, all seems in order. Have you tried imgburn, plus don't forget you can do simulation burns in Nero without wasting any discs. As all appears ok in your setup according to the Nero logfile i'm not convinced a reformat/reinstall will solve the problem. Maybe give imgburn a try ?..
