I'm using Nero 8.3.6.0 with DVDShrink, and I have for a while. After taking about a month off of copying dvds, with which I've never had any problems, I'm having trouble burning with this version of Nero.

The ripping process is fine, and DVDShrink starts the burning with Nero, but I get about 7 - 10% in and I get a burn error message. This part of the burning alone takes 20 minutes, when the whole process used to take 20 minutes.

I'm hoping it's not a problem with the drive itself, I'm using a PLDS DVD+-RW DH-16A6S that came with my Dell Inspiron 530s. The computer is just about 6 months old.

Also, I'm copying the dvd files to an external harddrive that has about 55Gb of free space, so I don't think that's it either.

I'll post the error log below. I took a look at it and found some spots that probably tell me what's wrong, but I don't know how to read it. Thanks for any help.

That's a good DVD-R media (Taiyo Yuden). Maybe try them DVD+R from Verbatim or YUDEN to see if you'll get a success.

What kind of burner do you have? Is your firmware the latest? Have a look for your burner and it's firmware http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=38756

Below is a current successful burned Nero log of mine. Really I can't see much comparing yours to mine, except the DMA and maybe have your burner's firmware update if you haven't done so.

Thank you very much, sir. The DMA reset did the trick, and I am back to burning DVDs in under 10 minutes. I have a few friends who had the same problem, so I will spread the word.

Is there any reason why this happened? Is it something that I may have accidently triggered, or is it something that I'll just have to keep resetting every so often?

Thanks again.

You're welcome - glad your back in business and burning again. I strongly deem that if you've had more than 3 or 4 failure when using Nero to burn, then it "automatically" switch your DMA to OFF or PIO Mode.

Good luck.
