Issues With HDLoader

So I recently installed the HDloader exploit on my PS2 and it loads CD PS2 games fine. But when it comes time to load a DVD off of the hard drive it freezes up on a black screen. I used this guide below. I realize it's a bit old so perhaps I'm missing something.

Do I need to burn a DVDR and use that to start it up? Any help would be great. Thank You.
