Hi, I'm a student studying graphic design. I want to upgrade my camcorder, (which is currently a standard Sony DV camcorder) to a HDD and/or HD camcorder. I've found one here:

Firstly, is that a good HD camcorder or a cheap, novice excuse for one? Secondly I'm leaning towards a HDD camcorder rather than a HD camcorder because of the price. But is HD quality really worth the extra money? Will HD footage chew my macbook to pieces?

I'm after good quality for widescreen display output. So could a stand alone Hard Disk Drive camcorder do the job?

And finally I've heard many formats for HDD Camcorders are MPEG2, can this easily be converted without losing quality?
