Ok, after being on with Sony all night *lol*--I finally realized that I can't upload more then 10 minutes at a time. So I am using Windows Movie Maker to upload my video.

Everything went great until I played it back. There is no audio. Can you guys think of anything I am doing wrong?

I am using Windows XP..

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Is your camcorder connected to the computer, via firewire? If it is connected, via USB, then that could be your problem.

No, you have to purchase the firewire cable, separately. You don't necessarily have to purchase a Sony cable, but don't get a cheap one.

I have a Belkin cable, and mine works fine, with my Sony DCR-HC96 camcorder.

Ok, so I went out and bought an adapter for my computer as I do not have a firwire port. I bought the firwire cable--but when I plug all of that in--and start Windows Movie Maker--it is not recognizing the camera...I am running Vista on this particular computer (laptop)..

Can you think of anything?

I am pulling my hair out...

Don't use windows movie maker. Download WinDV. (Not WinDVD). It is free and one of the best dv capture programs out there. You need to capture in AVI which it does.
