Hi,

I am trying to upgrade directly, as I read in a few places that you can and I have dial-up.

I downloaded everything, launched the installer after placing the Update folder in the PSP/Game directory.
I also placed the 5.00.pbp file into the PSP/Game/Update folder.

It says
Unpacking... done.
Please wait...

And I have been waiting for at least 20 minutes now, and was wondering if it should take that long or if there is a step I missed someplace. Thanks.

I am attempting to make it play PS1 games for my little bro, as I have a large collection of PS1 games. :P

It should be 500.PBP not 5.00.PBP.

Plus you need to update to 5.00 M33 first before updating to 5.00 M33-4.

You can get 5.00 M33 HERE.

So Download the above file and extract the UPDATE folder to the /PSP/GAME folder then place the 500.PBP file in the update folder. Now run the update to install 5.00 M33 custom firmware.

After you have done that delete the UPDATE folder. Then copy the UPDATE folder for 5.00 M33-4 to the /PSP/GAME folder (the 500.PBP is not needed). Now run the 5.00 M33-4 update.

Thanks, I got it done now.

I was actually able to do the direct upgrade, but first I had to swap my kernal from 1.50 to 3.52.
