Question about new DVD drive, and Recommendations

I am interested in protecting my PS2 games by backing them up but reading through the forum it seems like quite a daunting task. I read recently that Sony just released a new combo DVD+R/W and DVD-R/W format drive and wanted to know if this would be a good drive for backing up games with. I've also read from some posters that you should only use Pioneer, Universal and A-Grade media. From those that have created working back ups which media do you think is the best. Also what DVD drive are you using?

I have tested Mitsui, Pioneer, Universal they are the only 3 brand to work flawlessly, among them Universal is the cheapest.. go to www.buy-dvd-r.com
