I recently got Resident Evil Outbreak as a early christmas present.
I remember the game had a feature to install the game to the HDD to reduce the load times significantly.
So I put in my 60GB HDD I had lying around and it won't detect.
I did some reading anf found out, there was a HDD boot disc (Which came with the SOny HDD, that came with FFXI).
Now I know there's a way to hack the HDD so that I don't have to buy one of the 40GB HDD that came with FFXI right?
I'm not trying to use that hack app that works with any HDD.
I just want to install REO on my HDD without buying the official HDD>
Any help will be greatly appreciated,

not possible. the official hdd has a proprietary firmware on it.
ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure
got a whole lot more to list . . .

better option is to get hdloader, either exploit or retail disc. it loads the whole game onto the hdd, and has a high compatability list. RE:O can fully be loaded.

And that would have the same effect as (with load times), as just installing the game would be?
Interesting, guess i'll look into that

it would have a better effect since the whole game is installed, not part of it.
san andreas, near instant loading. minus the intro load.
and using a 7200rpm, 16mb cache IDE drive will maximize the potential. preferably a seagate IDE, since western digital drives need the network adapter to be modified.

if you can't find a seagate or maxtor IDE hdd, and western digital is your last leg, use THIS guide to modify the adapter.
there's nothing wrong with WD; they're actually one of the best drives. but it'll be simpler if you didn't have to mod.

Hey cee43ja1, what's this proprietary firmware thing? I've format my (official) 40GB two times (once using winhiip and once using the Sony Utility Disc) and now it's no longer being detected, whether through PS2, winhiip, or HDLoader. I think I might have delete the firmware. Do you think that's the cause of it? If so, would you happen to know how to reinstall it? Thanks.

I don't have an Official Sony 40GB hdd, but here the files needed .
The folders you see in this file are the partitions on the hdd itself.
So the contents can be copied there using uLaunch.elf and browsing through FILEBROWSER, then choose hdd.
You could copy/paste them using uLe.
You then probably need to use your Sony Utility disc to check it again.
Like I say I don't know for sure as I don't have an Official hdd.
