Will Nero Recode 4.0.4.0 (Nero 9) backup all my original movie DVDs?
Whats the success rate or will I need to find some other product do you think? DVDShrink seems to bomb out sometimes.

Nero and DVD Shrink cannot work with encrypted movies(DVD Shrink could, but not with the new releases, as it has not been updated in ages)
First you need to rip the DVDs to your drive using a decrypter, like DVDFab HD Decrypter. Then you can shrink it/ author it with Recode or DVD Shrink and burn it to disc.

cyprusrom is right. Nero Recode is only a transcoder and a DVD authoring engine. So you'll need to rip all your original DVD (movies) with DVDFab HD Decrypter or AnyDVD first, then continue to compress, transcode or author using Nero Recode.

I've been using Nero Recode for ages and highly recommend it simply because it is one of the best and fastest transcoder out there.

I guess he/she's talking about the patent activation. If you've got a legit serial, then you shouldn't have to worry about and or simply just delete it's "patent activation" from the directory.

Not sure about Nero 9, but for Nero 8 it's under "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nero\Shared\NL3\Patent Activation"
