I've been using DvD decryptor for a couple of months and wondering if it's still one of the best PS2 backup program ?

Also wondering does DvD decryptor work with 99% of PS2 games ? I've used it on a few old games but not any newer ones. Do newer PS2 games have better protection and won't work with the DvD decryptor ?

If so how will I know the program can't rip the game will it tell me a error message or I'll have to burn and test to see if the game works ? thanks

Most people now use its successor Imgburn. It is free and is basically DVD Decrypter but newer.

All PS2 games can be ripped and burned using Imgburn.

If your backup doesn't work after burning, it is probably due to either type of media you used, and whether its DVD-R, or DVD+R,the speed you burned it at or the capability of your burner.

If those are the only reasons a backup won't work and not cause I'm using DVD Decrypter program then I would prefer to stick with DVD Decrypter. DVD Decrypter can rip any ps2 dvd game properly right ? Cause I haven't had any issues yet.

If DVD Decrypter still works good why would people switch ? It's probably cause they are also ripping movies not only ps2 games and movies dvds have diff protections on them. This is my guess why.

thanks

I haven't used DVD Decrypter in a couple years now, but I would imagine most upgrade because of more settings available, newer drives, operating systems etc. Dual layer support.
Imgburn is supported while DVD Decrypter is no longer.

I use imgburn for my wii backups also.

If you have no issues, and are happy with DVD Decrypter, then stay with it if you wish.

Last question, I've read many places for DVD backups you should not burn any faster than 4x correct ?

What about when buring cd ps2 games to cdr's what burn speed should I have it at ? thanks

I burn my ISO at 4x and have never had a problem over the years, but you will find throughout this site and others, that some burn at 8x with no problem.

If your burner is fairly new , discs are 16x or higher, then should be no problem.
It is always a combination of your PS2 version, type of media used, and burner.
Go with what works for you. Sometimes it is a test to find that.

For CD images I don't have too many as I usually convert them to DVD, but I will burn them at 12x-16x speed on CD-R usually Sony discs.

I always stick by rule of thumb. Burn at half the max speed of the particular DVD brand or CD media.

Yes, there has been cases where I burnt a disc at 2x, and it didn't work, but burning same disc at 4x or 8x works perfect. ;0
