Can't scroll in the XMB after installing M33 3.71-2 to a Fat PSP

I am installing CFW to a coworker's 2 PSP Fatties for her kids. I used Larry's guide which I have not had any problems with. The first Fat PSP had no problems and it works perfectly. The second one though doesn't work. I tried out a game and when I exited out of the game, all of a sudden the d pad and game buttons don't work but the volume, home, brightness, and the other button works. I have reinstalled this 5 times already and I get the same result.

When I convert the PSP to official 3.71 firmware, everything is fine. It is just when I go CFW it doesn't work.

Any suggestions or can you point me into a good direction?

You could try upgrading to a different firmware for that psp. 4.01m33-2 or even 5.00m33-4 or something. Not saying it will work but i had this problem once and it did solve it!!
