I have been reading alot about turning classic xbox into a media center. That sounds like a good idea since I have three lying around collecting dust. But, my question is can I trick it out so that I can add additional storage say 500GB hard-drive and a remote control? I also want to connect it directly to the TV set and be able to play back dvd and music. I got tired of burning discs (some of them ended up being coasters)and can do without all the clutter any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

One thing to note: "XBMC for Xbox, like all homebrew Xbox applications, requires a modchip or softmod exploit, or reflashing the Xbox onboard BIOS EEPROM chip with a modified BIOS."

I have stopped converting/burning DVDs a while back...the $30 some dollars that I spent on ebay on an old XBOX was one of the best investments.

You already have the box, which means probably have one of the games needed for mod also...I bought mine for $2 and some change.

Yes you can put a new HDD(mine is 500GB).
The remote will be your wireless controller.

Here's the guide that I followed. If you are used to playing with an XBOX( I was a total nOOb!:)), it'll be a piece of cake!
