Hi, last night computer was fine, turned it off for the night and this morning when I attempted to turn it on, it would keep rebooting. Every time it turns on, it takes about 1-5 seconds before it restarts again, so it appears that it's not even entered the bios yet. I've tried unplugging everything including the battery to try to flash the bios but nothing I do will fix it. I need ideas!

I'd suspect it were the powersupply but I bought a very reliable one for it only about 2 months ago and its never given me much trouble, and like I said, I turned it off last night and everything was completely normal.

update, tested the powersupply and its all working correctly. After unplugging and plugging everything back in, and then isolating everything except for the cpu, mobo, and the powersupply, I'm pretty sure its the motherboard maulfunctioning. I have reset it by pulling the battery out and it still will not start. Is it safe to assume that I need to replace my mobo now?

This happened to me the other day. It turned out a memory stick had failed. I tried a few combinations of sticks until i found the one that caused the endless reboots. Removed it and problem is gone.

I have (2) Corsair Dominator xms2 1gig sticks installed and I pulled one at a time to see if it was still booting wrong, and to my amazement, it turned out that it was one of the sticks of memory causing the problem. You seriously saved my butt atleast 1-2 weeks of downtime! I was less than 5 minutes from ordering a replacement from newegg, but I decided to check here first. Is there a paypal account I could send a few bucks to for my gratitude?

Never offer people that, they'll rip you off :)
Am just glad you're sorted.
Sad to hear that you've had a Corsair stick go bad, that's not good.
Mine are Crucial Ballistix (4x 1GB) from back this time last year when Ballistix were apparently decent. I was pondering replacing mine with 2GB of Corsair Dominator's but as i still have 3 good sticks (2 are installed so as to take advantage of Dual whatever it's called but i'll wait for now).
Must still see if i can send the faulty stick back to Crucial actually.

Plus i'm going to buy a Corsair fan for the menory sticks. I've read the fans aren't actually very good but if it keeps the remaining ram from failing it's worth a go i think.

p.s. my pc (P35 chipset, as far as i remember the P35's are prone to this) has always done the reboot-once-straight-after-power-on thing, but had only ever done it once; the other day it was rebooting over and over, was just glad it was only a faulty ram stick
