What are the games that you know that don't (or probably wouldn't) run well as backups.

1) GTA San Andreas - huge game that is constantly loading data from the disc

2) Bully - likewise. i've read about problems in consistency even in good media

3) Mercenaries - haven't read anything about this, but i know that this game loads stuff constantly.

4) Beat Down - pretty obscure game, but watch out for this garbage. It was the game that nearly killed the lens on my previous ps2 (and it wasn't a backup, i didn't have any mods back then). This game has the MOST loading - not the silent swirling kind, but the demanding grinding type - of any game i've ever played. Watch out!

Oh just remembered

the newest Hitman game. watch out for that.

I remember that was the game that made my once oh-so-nice-and-silent slim ps2 into one that always makes noise (with every game). Was the actual disc btw

Oh, and if anyone has had no problems with the games i listed then please say so. I'm just listing these based on posts i've read and personal experiences.

I have the newest hit man, but never got round to playing it. It will kill my laser you think? ;/

If that is the case, then screw it.

Just in case anyone else reads this, all those games work fine backed up and played on the PS2.

You need to clean your laser if you hear loud noises and make sure to use good media.

I never hear loud sounds when playing these or any games or Dual Layer backups for that matter.

What brand of media are you using and are they DVD-R or DVD+R?

What speed did you burn at and with what program?

I am sorry I forgot to mention I used Alcohol. Here lately Im using Ultra Iso. Of course When I copied silent hill2 I used Alcohol. I normally don't have any problems playing backups with it. As you can guess I am a silent hill fan and I have 1,2,3, and 4. So, far I only played 1 and part of silent hill 2.

Cool

Those disks should work fine. I normally only use Alcohol for CD games or PS1 backups.

The latest Ultraiso is supposed to be fine for PS2 games.

Most use imgburn as do I for PS2 DVD backups.

I have all those games also, and they work fine on Sony DVD-R
burned with imgburn at 4x speed.

Last spring I played Silent Hill:Origins and finished it, so am a fan also.
I jumped ahead, so playing Silent Hill 4 now.

I could try my Silent Hill 2 later to see if videos were choppy in it or not and let you know.

Well I looked it up on their site, when I looked on the armax I have I didn't see a master code so I tried to manually type it in and it says can't enter master code. Tried a few times and get the same thing. Also the link you provided there isn't for silent hill the game in question.
Im all out of ideas. I also tried enableing only one cheat at a time. The game still freezes. Im fresh out of ideas.

Ok I played the Silent Hill 2 a bit longer and yes my cutscenes lagged a bit.

I know they play fine in all the other Silent Hill games I have.

This is the only one I have which is PAL

Do you know which Silent Hill 2 you have? There are a couple versions of it.
Can you check which SLUS file you have on yours?
