Ok, used Nero vision 5 and Express 8 to burn dvd's. When I play them in my DVD player (Samsung) get This disc cannot be played and Please check disc messages. I used Recode and Vision to change from AVI to Video TS. First used a Fuji dvd-r and just tried a Verbatim DVD-RW. Can someone please tell me what to do to get these to work on the dvd? Trying to get a small business up and running but if Nero isn't that great then what other programs would you recommend for burning to HD then making dvd's? Need some help and fast!

Are the burned DVD's playing ok on the PC?
If they are playing ok on the PC, was the correct TV standard set in Nero, i.e NTSC for North America or PAL for EU and Australasia.

Just tried some on the PC again and work fine. Set at NTCS due to being in NY so do not think that should be an issue. Tried the dvd's again on the standalone player and same error messages showed up.

What burner do you have?
Your Samsung player might not like burned DVD-R , you might have to burn onto a DVD+R and booktype to DVD-ROM(if your burner supports that feature)-I have a Sanyo combo, and that's how it likes the burns.better compatibility.
ImgBurn would be the burner of choice.
If you have a friend, check that disc in his player to confirm.

My Samsung is also a DVD/VHS combo. Using Lite-On LH-20A1H to write with. Downloaded Imgburn to give it a try. Have DVD+R's for Lightscribe as well as DVD-R's for Lightscribe. Used Vision and Express to make the dvd's but haven't tried Nero Burning Rom except once and wouldn't burn it (forget error but will try again). Would like DVD-R to work on player since it is suppose to be more compatible with players than DVD+R from what I have found out.

Maybe DVD-R is more compatible than DVD+R, but once you booktype the DVD+R to DVD-ROM, that changes things. Your burner supports that feature, so give it a try.

Ok did it and had to go back to build mode. Going to try DVD+RW again to see what happens. Anyway to also try DVD-R to see it it might not work again? Also curious, how would all of this be done in Nero?

Also forgot to ask on how to figure out what format the Samsung reads: DVD-R, DVD+R or both.

What do you mean by "work again"? Were you able at some point to watch burned DVD-Rs on that player?
here's how to change booktype with Nero:

Beside booktyping, the only other thing that I can suggest is better discs, don't burn too fast.

Does that mean that you have played burned DVD-Rs with that player in the past?

Nope, burned some DVD's last year with Nero 7 Ultra and they worked in it but they might have been DVD+R's. Made them for some friends but they could watch on computer but not on stand alone. Just tried DVD+RW and didn't work (used Nero Burn and ImgBurn for the two) so will use a TDK Lightscribe DVD+R to see how it works.

Ok, it seems that DVD-R and DVD+R/+RW do not for some reason on my Samsung. The all play in the computer and even called relatives who I made DVD's for last year. Used TDK DVD+R Lightscribe since I added images to the disc and they work there. The same disc for another person didn't work in his DVD player but did on his computer. I even ran a video from Vintage Video and didn't work (same message as with all my disc's), put in The Trench DVD didn't work and just put in Troy and still trying to load after 5 minutes. Wonder what I can do to the Samsung besides clean it to get it to work. Ran last year the DVD+R's with no problems or it could just be a piece of crap as it seems to be.

Now when I check them on the computer Nero Showtime has sound while Media Player doesn't. How can I fix it so I know it will run with sound? Most likely a new thread isn't it?
