AS some of you may know, Windows 7 beta has been leaked and I would like to test it for myself. So I'm just wondering what this will do to the vista bootloader, if anything.
Currently I have 3 operating systems installed on one drive partitioned like so: (1)Vista, (2)Xp media center *main partition*, (3) Xp japanese edition, (4) back up partition. I was going to pull 10gb out of either the japanese or back up partitions.
Will installing windows 7 create a new mbr and new boot loader? And if so how would I repair that, if need be. Or will it just appear as another option in the vista boot loader?
Your best bet is to get the free "virtualbox" and load the windows 7 beta on there. It'll run to where you can get a good idea how it will behave on your hardware.
That's how I test the different Linux OS, but virtualbox works with windows quite well.
If you had a single OS, then it would no problem to actually load it on your computer, but currently you have an exotic MBR with all the different OS on it, it's best not to mess with it.
Thanks sounds like a great solution. I really didn't want to have anything messed up as last time the NTDLR had gotten corrupted on my previous system.
