I'm trying to upload my CD collection to my computer. Windows Media Player seems to recognize the album/tracks of original CDs I rip but not ones I rip from CDRs. My CDRs are all backups I made of originals, so I'm not sure why it does not recognize the tracks. I tried the find album link and it sends me to a store to buy the album rather than picking up the album info. Anybody able to explain why this is?

Your CDRs are not true back ups.

I would NEVER use WMP to rip or burn. Your back ups are seriously flawed. They lack the needed info to recognize the albums. Instead you have a pointer to where you can buy the album. You are experiancing a WMP gotyha. By using software made by M$ or Apple you open your self to a world of hurt. Their only wish is to take as much money from you as they can.

The CDs most likely have inferior audio quality as well. Your CDs are just marginal junk. You need the real CDs or a CD burned to be a dupe of the original by someone that actually knew what they were doing to be able to rip them like an original. It is just as well. Ripping from junk CDs produces low quality music even if you take care. It is kind of like cooking a nice dish using rotten meat. The dish will be filling but will never taste good no matter what you do.

If you don't mind junk, and can't get good disks, you can tag using mp3tag with freedb as the source. NEVER ask for burned audio CDs from a friend. Only get mp3 disks.

Use EAC or poweramp connverter to rip CDs. Then rip to lossless, or extream quality mp3s (320 CBR or VBRs set to the extreame setting. Use accurip to insure that your reader read the CD correctly. Both rippers can use accurip to monitor the ripping process. I think you can still get EAC for free.
