I have a LiteOn 5006 manufactured in Jan 05 and I am in the UK.

I have previously managed to record stuff onto DVD from my Sky Plus Box by playing the Sky Plus recording through the telly and using the DVD recorder to capture it. It has always worked fine...up until now.

I have not done any such recording for a while (a year or more)but yesterday and today I tried to record a programme and encountered errors.

I have a widescreen telly and so the DVD recorder was set to 16:9 however this aspect ratio did not fully correspond with the screen size as seen through the DVD player (text at the bottom and top of the screen was either cut in half or missing completely)

I changed the region from NTSC to PAL (thinking this would solve it as I am in the UK) but when I try to record I get the error message 'wrong signal type'. So it seems the TV and DVD recorder are incompatible as far as NTSC and PAL are concerned.

I have googled this problem too and someone else (with a 5005 tho) managed to solve it by changing the region code of the player making it Region 2. However, this does not solve my problem.

Has anyone else encountered anything similar or know of anything else I can try? Could it be that I don't have the right connections between TV, Sky Plus Box, and DVD recorder?

PCs are more my thing so I feel a litte bit out of my depth here so any help would be great
