I purchesed amodded ps2 with matrix infinity and it played my dvd+r back ups for four days now I get read error but I reburned onto dvd-r and it works for now can any one help me
Hi , it seems im having almost the same problems as u do :) . I used some TDK DVD-R s to wrote some PS2 games and play them on my modded PS2.
After writing them i tried out the games if they load properly, and they did, i could start a new game , save etc. I havent played these games yet, just tried em out, i took em into a DVD box for later use. After a few months i wanted to play them but my PS2 wont load em up, it always gives the red screen "Please insert original PS2(R) Disc....". These disks were written in 4x speed(lowest possible for me), and are still in perfect condition.
What could be the problem ?
Also i wrote out some of my stuff to these TDK disks, and after a year i cant get my PC to read the disk , even though i insert them in the same writer, that i used earlier to write out my stuff( im talking about 44 Gb stuff, pics, vids, lots of tools, some of my fav games).
So what am i to do now ? cant even get IsoBuster to rip off the data from the disks.
It would be great if some1 could tell me what to do to recover my stuff(if theres any way), OR tell me what NOT TO DO in the future to avoid such situations.
left out in the heat/sun/microwaves/little brats? not sure about tdk I've never bought their media before. did you check the media review thread somewhere on here? if that many discs failed at once without any outside "hazards" then I would send them a email or something get some money back or some more discs. :p
Every PS2 seems different. It is a combination of your burner, type of discs and speed you burn at.
Sometimes takes some testing to see what works right for you.
Tx for the reply guys
my ps2 is a slimV14 with a modbo in it, i backup on TDK-R disks with 4x
regarding my PC: a few things changed xD, my motherboard were in a pretty bad shape for a week now and eventually died...(P5VD2-MX 1 yo)
could this cause the problem ? that Vista didnt see any data on those disks, aka it saw some new, blank dvds ?
Also there are other disks out there :D, still in good shape, and they were readable <.< , but yeah i guess this has to do sumtin with the quality of the TDK-R disks, or was i so unfortunate that the next 10 disks i picked from the box were all junk ? O.o
I heard that the way u store ur disks can have an effect on them, im thinking about dvd vs time, temperature,(sun)light
+ after a year or 2 , if u use burned media in ur chipped PS2 u ll have to reposition the laser ? is that true ? can that be the real problem ?
I have like 100+ games on TDK-R dvds, written in 4x speed, and i want to be able to browse, use them in my PS2 in the next 2-3 year, with the least possible number of rewriting/copying ( i know i cant avoid that, but pls ! rw all my disks every week ??? O.o )
Instead of buying humps of cheap dvd s , should i invest in an external HDD ( or two) ? is that safer for backing up data/PS2 media?

dam, im double posting xD, some1 do sumtin
You also may want to clean your PS2 laser. Use a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol, in a cicular motion clean gently but firmly for about 30 secs.
Then take a dry q-tip and dry it for about 6-8 secs in the same circular motion.
my ps2 is also modded with matrix infinity, i tried to burn a game onto a dvd-r at first try the cd seems to work and i was able to play, but after resetting it, it doesn't work anymore and the red screen appears "please insert original PS2 disc"
